The project consolidates Transend’s statewide primary storage for the provision of power distribution services, to an industrial site at Bridgewater.
For efficiency of layout, the building required a 53 metre clear span with a length of 97 metres, enclosing 5140 square metres.
An economy of scale and structural steel efficiency was achieved with the 5140 square metre roof held up with 9 tapering triangular trusses, forming an exo-skeletal truss-column combination.
The structural solution reduces the visual impact on the wider landscape, recalling the quality of high voltage transmission towers or Pivot sprinklers, both of which are made with small steel sections read in silhouette.
